The New York Times has a brief writeup about the sequel to Wall Street that Oliver Stone started production on this week. Although a sequel to the classic 1980's film had been in the works for quite some time, the script was fast-tracked after the market crash one year ago.
For fans of the movie there is more good news. Michael Douglas will be back in his role as Gordon Gekko, the iconic corporate raider from the original film. Gone is Charlie Sheen (who supposedly still has a cameo) with Shia Lebouf taking his place as the main character. An odd choice that has the potential to turn out well.
When asked why Stone didn't produce a sequel several years ago he responded with: We wouldn t have done this movie in 2006, he said. Things were too loose. I didn t want to glorify pigs.
