Last year news broke about the death of freeride mountain biker Sam Brown. Brown was known for building some of the most progressive trails in British Columbia and had been featured in movies and magazines. A few years ago he faded from the MTB scene leaving fans wondering what happened to the crazy kid from Nelson, BC. As it turns out Sam began trafficking massive amounts of marijuana and cocaine across the US/Canadian border.
It all ended when Sam was caught flying a helicopter loaded with drugs into Spokane, Washington, where federal agents were hiding in the woods waiting for him. In an even more sad twist of fate Brown was found dead in his jail cell just a few days later. Rolling Stone caught wind of the story and now several months later have published an impressive article about Sam's ordeal and his descent from professional mountain biker to helicopter-flying drug trafficker.
