Burnside is perhaps the most well known skate park in the world. Built under the Burnside bridge in Portland, OR by local skaters the park has only two rules: No bikes, no rollerblades. In years past there have been some exceptions to the bike rule, but under no circumstances are rollerblades ever allowed.

It's not a rule that should be taken lightly. Ove… Read More

On Friday, October 16th the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC will play host the the Cut & Paste Global Championship. Cut & Paste is a digital design tournament that pits artists against each other in front of a live audience. As Jeff Staple puts it "think American Idol with PowerMacs."

HOLLYWOOD-STYLE BANK HEIST IN SWEDEN

by: Major Ops

October 07, 2009

Say what you will about Dane Cook, but he got one thing right when he said that the only thing men want more than sex is to be involved in a heist. True words Dane, even if your stand-up material is atrocious.

Last week in Stockholm, Sweden a cash depot storing millions in cash was robbed in an early-morning raid.

NIKE TUNNEL JAM

by: Major Ops

October 06, 2009

One of my favorite blogs is a BMX/design site called Defgrip. Founded by graphic designer/BMX industry fixture Harrison Boyce Defgrip fuses two very disparate topics into a surprisingly sensible product.

One of Harrison's partners at Defgrip, Nuno Oliveira, recently headed to the UK to cover the Nike 6.0 Tunnel Jam. Nike has been throwing a ton of weight behind action sports over… Read More

THE FUTURE OF MTB

by: Major Ops

October 02, 2009

A couple months back we posted a bunch of footage from a slopestyle mountain bike event called the Days of Thunder. Held by Norway's Anti Productions the event has so far been regarded as the best of the year.

Now we get a short edit recapping the best footage from the event. In short, this is the future of mountain biking. Long regarded as the less cool version of BMX - slopesty… Read More

10.Deep has come a long way from all over print hoodies and loud graphics. The Brooklyn-based streetwear brand has evolved into a true leader of street fashion in recent years. Their latest collection dubbed "The Outsiders" is a throwback to vintage alpine gear. It's easily one of the most progressive collections seen this season. The attention to detail with their jackets, h… Read More

FLYING PALACE

by: Major Ops

September 15, 2009

I suppose this signals an official end to the recession. An unnamed head of state in the Middle East just committed to a $300 million "flying palace." It's a wide body Airbus A380 that will have a hot tub and anti-aircraft missiles. And the funny thing? Demand for this type of aircraft is on the rise.

September 11, 2009

Spy shots of the 2010 Mercedes SLS AMG have been floating around for a while. The car is based on the iconic 300SL, a vintage gullwing coupe released in the 1950's. Yesterday images of the new production model were released.

The SLS is a startling vehicle. It sits just a few inches off the ground and has a very low, wide profile. The grille is adorned wit… Read More

FIXE MAGAZINE

by: Major Ops

September 09, 2009

Fixe is a new fixed gear cycling magazine coming out of France. Hypebeast originally posted this, but made an error when billing it as the French extension to popular UK magazine Fixed. Fixed is an independent publication (and by far one of the best new print products to hit newsstands) while Fixe has been launched by French BMX publisher Cream.

There's a new player in the outerwear game going by the name Aether Apparel. This philosophy behind the company is interesting. On their website the founders describe their motivation to launch Aether by saying:
